Preparing to Buy

Before you start shopping for your property, it is a good idea to make some preparations.  The first thing will be to meet with a lender to get pre-approved for a home loan.  Be prepared to provide multiple documents and give both financial and personal information to your lender so that they can help you take that next step to home ownership.  Some documents may include:

  • Financial and bank statements

  • Investment information

  • Credit card information

  • Auto loans

  • Recent paycheck stubs

  • Tax returns for two years

  • 401K statements, life insurance, stocks, bonds, and mutual account information.

Some things that a lender will look at is your credit score.  It can have a huge impact on what type of property you can buy, at what price and the types of loans that you can qualify for. The lender will research your credit ratings from the three credit reporting agencies Equifax, Experian and Trans Union. If you do not have a lender in mind to use, please do not hesitate to ask me for some recommendations.  


In addition to providing the above info to your lender, now is NOT a good time to make sudden career changes or large purchases. You want to approach your property purchase from a position of financial stability.
